Internship Pioneer and Policy Officer Vaii Aaron Concludes Service After Contributing to Organisational Policy Development and Ihu SEZ Licensing Submission

As we bid farewell to Vaii Aaron, we reflect on his journey and contributions at ISEZ. Vaii departs on 13th February, 2026, marking the end of an impactful tenure with the organisation.

Vaii joined ISEZ on 02nd August, 2023 as an intern, pioneering the ISEZ Internship Program — a program designed to prioritise local Kikori graduates and bridge the gap between education and employment.

Following the successful completion of his internship, he was appointed as a permanent staff member, serving as Policy Officer.

During his time at ISEZ, Vaii made significant contributions in Policy Development and Review, drafting, refining, and ensuring compliance for key organisational policies and frameworks, including HR frameworks,ESG, OH&S, GEDSI, and the ISEZ Development Policy.

Beyond policy work, he supported field teams on programs in Lands, Community Awareness, and Corporate Social Responsibility, demonstrating versatility and commitment. Notably, Vaii took a leading role in preparing licensing submissions for the Ihu Special Economic Zone.

Vaii expressed his gratitude to ISEZ Management, especially Managing Director Peter Kengemar, for creating avenues for local graduates, and to team leaders and staff for their mentorship and support.

His departure marks another chapter in the history of ISEZ interns and staff. Vaii joins Noanne Kengemar and Amy Veapi, who have also left after completing their internships. Current interns and staff — including Manuel Wafi and Asi — continue to carry forward the work. We also remember and honor Tony, a valued staff member who passed away during his time with ISEZ.

Vaii’s journey from intern to Policy Officer reflects his dedication and the opportunities ISEZ provides for local talent. The impact of ISEZ on his career will always be treasured, and his contributions will continue to be valued.

On behalf of Management and Staff, we wish Vaii Aaron every success in his future endeavors.
