ISEZ Officially Signs MOUs with Five Major Companies for Project Development in Ihu

Ihu Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) officially partners with five major companies after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) documents during the second day of the Special Economic Zone Summit at Stanley Hotel, Port Moresby.

With SEZ experts around the world including more than 370 local delegates in attendance, the signing of the MOUs seems like a statement that ISEZ is taking giant steps into developing Ihu, which ultimately brings big change to the whole of Gulf Province and its people.

The Partners involved in the signings were PNG Data Co, Wartsila, Kumul Agriculture Limited, China Harbour and WR Carpenters.

ISEZ Managing Director Peter Kengemar was joined up on stage by Minister of International Trade and Investment, Honourable Richard Maru and Member of Kikori Open, Honourable Soroi Eoe for the signing of the MOUs.

Hon. Eoe stated that he is privileged to see National Bodies and Contractors coming together to work closely with ISEZ for the development of Gulf Province.

He also added that there has to be political will and support from the top, and most importantly on the ground level where the Open Members and Governors are concerned about this agenda, which will drive SEZs to work.

Moreover, Minister Maru encouraged the Kikori Member to keep going with the ISEZ Project.

“If you are on second gear, put the third and the fourth gear on, this is going to be one of the exciting Special Economic Zone in the country, said Maru.”

The International Trade and Investment Minister enthusiastically added that he is driven to make this ‘dream’ a reality and is in full support of the project's plans going forward.

Other important personnel from the province were also invited to this important occasion, which includes, Ihu LLG President, ISEZ Community Liaison Officers (CLOs), landowners, representatives from Gulf Provincial Government and Kikori District Administrator CEO. All are very crucial part of the ISEZ project plans for the province.
